 It was dark.

It was so dark that you could barely make out your hand in front of your face. The air tasted of rain while the gray clouds you spotted earlier in the sky during daytime assured of a downpour soon. You had not seen the sun in two weeks, but that was no rarity in Skyrim.

You yearned for the roaring fire of your old home in Whiterun, but it was a place you'd never see again. The Dark Brotherhood burned it down, thinking you were unknowingly sleeping inside. But in reality, you were miles away from the town, a man who was supposed to kill you leading the way to safety.

"Please tell me we're almost to Solitude!" You pleaded to Gilbert as he silently walked ahead of you, his drawn sword flashing with sliver light in the darkness of night.

"Not for another day or so," he glanced around at the shadows in the trees, then muttered, "we should probably stop for the night. You can never know what kind of unawesome things are lurking around..."

You sighed in relief, leaning against a tree. Your feet throbbed from the endless miles of walking. Gilbert had said that taking a horse would be too dangerous, that it would attract too much attention.

But soon the long walk would pay off. You'd be safe under the protection of the guard facilities in Solitude. The Dark Brotherhood would never be able to touch you again.

"Gilbert..." you pressed, looking at your long-time lover as he sheathed his iron sword, "what about you? You didn't do your duty, you didn't kill me. The Brotherhood is going to come after you." Gilbert had been courting you for months, but then you accidently found out who he really was, and the Brotherhood forced a quest of murder upon him, for you threatened their secrecy.

In the almost gray darkness, you could faintly make out the ghost of a smirk upon his lips, "Those posers don't have anything on the awesome Gilbert! If they dare try to kill me, I'll cut them down like weeds!"

You shook your head, disappointed with the answer, "No, Gil. I need a serious answer..."

He sighed in defeat and stepped closer to you, snow crunching under his boots. "As long as you're safe," muttered he, capturing your chin and leaned closer. You could now make out the red of his eyes, the white of his choppy hair, "then I'll be fine, liebe. Don't you worry. I would hate to see you cry over something so unawesome..."

As Gilbert attempted to lean forward to lock your inviting lips with his, you pulled away angrily. "Don't say you'll be fine! The Brotherhood will find you. I don't want you to die, Gilbert... stay with me in Solitude?"

He hated himself for his odd line of work. He hated himself for making you worry so much. He hated himself for getting you involved. If only he had been smart enough to not fall in love with you like everyone said he shouldn't. If only he had known back when he just had a crush on a beautiful girl that he'd be an assassin one day.

If he had killed you like The Brotherhood had wanted, nothing of this sort would be happening. But when he had broken into your home that one night, telling himself that he didn't love you as he watched your sleeping form, all of the emotions that he had locked away came rushing out. He couldn't even hold his knife correctly, let alone plunge it into your perfect chest.

Gilbert finally nodded after his thoughts, stroking your soft cheek tenderly. "I'll stay with you."
I might make a story out of this... idk xD
